Hi! I’m
Alex Morales, CAE
I am an Account Executive
Educator | Process Improvement | Diversity, Equity & Inclusion
In my role as account executive, I provide leadership and strategic direction for associations while optimizing staff resources to ensure lean operations delivery exceptional results. In my roles as Director of Operations for PIMA and Executive Director for the Association of Institutional Investors, I execute on the strategic vision of each association.
I am a skilled association operations executive; it is important for association staff to communicate well, align their work to the board’s vision, and enjoy doing their best work. I enjoy working at the 3,000-ft view (the proverbial “helicopter view”), evaluating how individual parts contribute to the whole machinery of association work. Teams work best when they’re all leveraging their individual strengths and can see their role in moving the association forward.
My Background
Like most association executives, I fell into the association management career. I hold a BS in Civil Engineering and entered the space as an engineer for the National Precast Concrete Association. I was in concrete-related associations for 20 years, earning my stripes through the continuing education and workforce development domains. I earned my masters degree in adult education in 2009. I have held positions from training manager to managing director, and even served functionally as COO.
Passionate about Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, I worked to form a local non-profit in the city of Fishers, Indiana – the Racial Equity Community Network. I served as chairman of the board for two years, focusing on educating our community on the importance of intercultural relationships and understanding.
Prior to starting with Bostrom, I spent two years as Regional Executive Director for PLA University, a philanthropic 501(c)3 focused on traditionally underserved communities. It is important work, but my heart lies in the trade association space and I missed my 501(c)6 colleagues. I obtained my Certified Association Executive (CAE) credential and joined Bostrom eager to make a difference again at the industry level.
Ever committed to DEI, and an educator at heart, I helped created a CAE study group with other Hispanic Association Executives and volunteer my time to help others that look, think, and love like me to embark on their credentialing journey in a safe, familiar, and empowering space. I feel like I’ve reached the pinnacle of “well-rounded employee,” working in my passion for making an industry-level difference, and volunteering in my passion for DEI.
